Check this out - Big Fig Pig Jig
Alas I was too late to get much shopping done at the Morningside farmer's market last weekend, but I did pick up a flier for the upcoming Big Fig Pig Jig.
The event is Sunday August 17 from 2-6 at a farm in Ellenwood. $35 gets you an old fashioned pig roast with farmer Neil's fig bbq sauce, heirloom tomato salad, fig gelato, fig tarts and muscaberry blue juice. Plus you can pick your own figs.
I love figs and hate the high, high prices grocery stores charge for them, so this is right up my alley. And I haven't been to a pig roast since some frat held one in college, so this sounds like a fun excuse to eat some great food and dive right into the farm to table trend.
An article about this trend appeared in the AJC this past weekend. Check it out here.
