Cupcake war: Sprinkles v. Anyone who dares to use a dot
Big day pour moi so I'm going to stick with a quick food news update!
My favorite cupcake shop in the universe is Sprinkles in LA I never could figure out the big to-do about Magnolia because Sprinkles were so much better. The cake is beyond moist with chunks of whatever to go with the icing. My favorite? A chocolate peanut butter cupcake with peanut butter cake with chunks of chocolate in the cake itself and a chocolate cream cheese icing. Served up with a glass of milk. Sigh...heaven!
But Sprinkles is ANGRY, very angry.
California-based Sprinkles Cupcakes filed a lawsuit against competitor brand Famous Cupcakes over the cupcakery's improper use of the Sprinkles trademarked "modern dot" design. (From Serious Eats)

Mind you the dot is not on Famous Cupcakes' actual cupcakes, rather it's used in its logo background. I contend that a couple of circles used in a different but cupcake relevant way probably doesn't constitute copyright infringement, but hey, the boyfriend is the lawyer not me, so who knows?
Seems a shame to detract from the sheer joy of cupcakery, though!
