From July 15 - 26, enjoy the 2nd annual Island Camp with the whole family. Island Camp includes a daily program for kids 5 and older, including arts and crafts with ocean and beach creations, scavenger hunts, star gazing, island treasure scrapbooking, bee keeping, gardening workshops, kayaking adventures, hiking, kite flying, tie dying, fishing, outdoor cooking, and bonfires complete with roasting marshmallows. The activity schedule repeats on a three-day cycle and is designed for families to participate together or individually.
Never fear, it's not all kid stuff. You can explore the island with a guided kayak or canopy tour, or head to the south end which features the Dungeness ruins, and an abundance of horses and other wildlife. History lovers can enjoy a trip to the north end, home to the quaint church where John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette were married. While you are there you may also see the home of Robert Stafford, the largest plantation owner on the island.
I don't have kids yet, but this sounds awesome to me. I love just chilling on a beach with a good book, but how fun to get to experience camp as an adult and have so many activities to choose from! Personally, I'd be all over scavenger hunts, hiking, kite flying, cooking, bonfires, canopy tours and scoping out wild horses.
