Talkin' Turkey: Atlanta Thanksgiving Options

Yes, the Holidays are almost here. Before you get too worried about shopping, gaining weight or avoiding that awkward party with your co-workers, you may want to see if you can get somebody else to do the heavy lifting on turkey day. Fortunately, plenty of Atlanta restaurants are more than willing to do the cooking so that you can sleep off that turkey hangover.  Here's a sampling of what's on offer:

South City Kitchen (both the Midtown and Vinings locations) are both open for Thanksgiving.  The restaurants feature prix-fixe three course dinners for $42 adults/$21 children.  Menus available at the Fifth Group website.

Fox Bros BBQ offers a to-go Thanksgiving feast featuring a 12-14 lb smoked turkey, an assortment of sides, and chess pie for $60.  Reserve by calling 404-414-0826 or emailing your order to catering@foxbrosbbq.com.  No word on whether their famous Tomminator will be available for Thanksgiving.

What's better than Thanksgiving dinner?  A Thanksgiving dinner buffet!!  Blog favorite The Shed at Glenwood is serving Thanksgiving dinner from 1-7 p.m.  The buffet features rosemary roast turkey, macaroni and cheese gratin, pumpkin pie and red velvet cupcakes for $45 adults/$20 for kids 4-10.  For all the details and reservations check out The Shed's website.

Inman Park's Serpas offers a to-go only menu, available for pick-up on Wednesday, Nov. 21.  Orders must be received by Nov. 18.  Menu and Order Form.

Not far down the road, Parish is offering an a la cart to-go menu, including turkey and all the trimmings priced by the pound.  Call 404-681-4434 for details.  Order by Nov. 18, pickup on Nov. 21.

Virginia-Highland stalwart Murphy's is offering a fixed-menu to-go meal that serves four for $145.  The menu includes four courses and is loaded with soup, turkey, sides and dessert.  Check murphys-atlanta-restaurant.com for details, or call  404-872-0904.  Order by Nov. 17, pickup on Nov. 21.

Prefer to handle the cooking yourself?  Or maybe you are tasked with bringing turkey and you want to impress your friends with a Georgia born and bred bird?  White Oak Pastures of Blakely, Georgia, is taking orders for its heritage breed turkeys.  Check out the White Oak Pastures website for more info.

Up in Marietta?  Check out The Chicken and the Egg's Thanksgiving dinner.  A steal at $24.95, children 6-12 are $11.99 and children 5 and under are free. Their meal includes an entree (presumably turkey is an option), three sides and dessert.  Reservations required; call 678-388-8813.
