Four Days in Paris Itinerary Map

Day 1: The Classics – Eiffel Tower, Seine Cruise & Notre Dame

Nearest metro: Bir-Hakeim / Trocadéro
Park break: Champ de Mars
Dinner vibe: Casual, early-friendly bistro
Why this works: Big sights + outdoor space = easier first day with kids

Start your first day with that pinch-me moment: seeing the Eiffel Tower in real life. Aim to get there early to beat the crowds and give yourself plenty of time for photos and awe. If your crew is up for it, book tickets to go up. Even just seeing it from below (or from the Trocadéro gardens across the river) is a thrill.

Next, head over to Notre Dame Cathedral on Île de la Cité. It’s finally reopened after post-fire renovations, and kids will love spotting the famous gargoyles. You can also pop into the crypt museum for a quick, fascinating peek at the city’s medieval past. (Get tickets here

From there, stroll along the Seine to soak in postcard-perfect views. This is prime time for a family-friendly Seine River cruise. Kids love being on the water, and grown-ups get a relaxing way to admire Parisian architecture. We chose a daytime cruise instead of evening because it kept the kids engaged without pushing bedtime.

Afterward, wander toward the Champ-de-Mars for a relaxed park break. For dinner, book early to secure a seat at the kid-friendly Brasserie des Pres, where you can enjoy affordable classic French cuisine.

👉 Make it easy with a fun, highly rated half-day tour that hits the city’s highlights: The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Moulin Rouge, Sacré-Coeur Basilica, and more!

Day 1: Paris Classics

Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Seine Cruise & Notre Dame

  • Visit the Eiffel Tower (go up or enjoy from below)
  • Relax with a Seine River cruise
  • Playtime at Champ de Mars + crêpe stand stop
  • Dinner at family-friendly Les Cocottes

Day 2: Museums, Macarons & Montmartre Charm

Nearest metro: Solférino (Musée d’Orsay) → Abbesses / Anvers (Montmartre)
Midday reset: Pastry or macaron stop in Saint-Germain
Afternoon pacing: Culture first, wandering later
Dinner vibe: Casual, lively, early-friendly
Why this works: Art in the morning + Montmartre whimsy keeps attention spans intact

Today is about mixing culture with curiosity. Start your morning at the Musée d’Orsay. It’s smaller and less overwhelming than the Louvre but still packed with world-famous Impressionist art. Even kids tend to enjoy spotting the colorful Van Goghs and graceful Degas dancers. Want to keep the whole family engaged? Book this excellent kid-friendly Musée d’Orsay tour with skip-the-line access. We tried visiting museums on our own in the past, and this was dramatically better, fewer rooms, better stories, and no burnout. The guide makes the art come alive with stories and games tailored for younger visitors—no museum meltdowns here. And if attention spans still run short, head upstairs to the giant clock windows for a quick photo op and a wow-worthy view.

Next up: grab lunch in the Saint-Germain neighborhood. This area is full of cozy cafés where you can try a classic croque monsieur. After lunch, treat yourself to macarons at Pierre Hermé—many say they’re the best in Paris. You might also be tempted by Ladurée, the famous shop known for starting the macaron trend. You can find Ladurée in many big U.S. cities now, but it still feels special to enjoy it in Paris. Want something more unique? Try Arnaud Larher’s beautiful pastries or Aux Merveilleux de Fred, where you can watch fluffy meringues and soft brioches made right in front of you.

Love French pastries? Don’t miss this 5-star Paris Pastry Tour – Croissants, Macarons & Iconic French Desserts

In the afternoon, head to one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris—Montmartre. This artsy hilltop neighborhood feels like a different Paris, full of winding alleys and quirky shops. Walk up to Sacré-Cœur for sweeping views, then let yourself get lost a little. Look out for street artists, vintage stores, and charming bakeries.

Pro Tip: Snap a pic at one of the most beautiful corners in Paris (Rue de l’Abreuvoir and Rue des Saules).

Cap the day with a relaxed dinner at Bouillon Pigalle. This was our favorite restaurant on our most recent visit with the kids. Traditional French food is fast, hot, and cheap here. Don’t miss the delectable steak frites!

Day 2: Culture & Charm

Musée d’Orsay, Saint-Germain & Montmartre Wanders

  • Start with Impressionist art at Musée d’Orsay
  • Grab lunch + macarons in Saint-Germain
  • Explore Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur
  • Dinner at Bouillon Pigalle (kid-approved French food)

Day 3: Marais Wandering, Market Snacks & a Food Tour to Remember

Cheese in a case at a fromagerie in Paris

Nearest metro: Saint-Paul
Lunch strategy: Marché des Enfants Rouges (flexible, fast, kid-friendly)
Afternoon anchor: Guided food tour (minimal planning, maximum payoff)
Dinner plan: Picnic, takeaway, or hotel night-in
Why this works: Flat streets + food motivation = low-stress day with kids

No trip to Paris is complete without time in the Marais. It’s my favorite neighborhood in Paris. This stylish, historic neighborhood is a blend of old-world charm and modern flair. Start your morning wandering its cobblestone streets, popping into indie boutiques, and exploring the Place des Vosges. Don’t miss Marché des Enfants Rouges, Paris’s oldest covered market. It’s a great spot for a casual, multicultural lunch—Moroccan tagine, Japanese bento, or a simple French sandwich, all under one roof.

In the afternoon, amp up the flavor with a walking food tour through the Marais or Montmartre. These tours are a fun, low-pressure way to taste your way through bakeries, cheese shops, and wine bars, with stories that even kids find entertaining. If you only book one food-focused experience in Paris, this is the day to do it.

A few of our favorite options:

  • Devour Paris Ultimate Food Tour – My family loved this tour. From croissants to macarons to French onion soup, it had everything you’d want to try in Paris in one afternoon. Even our picky daughter was in heaven!
  • Le Marais Food Tour with Secret Food Tours
  • Montmartre Hill French Gourmet Food and Wine Tasting Walking Tour
  • If you’d rather try your hand at making French food, don’t miss this best-selling family-friendly macaron class.
  • Get more ideas from our guide to finding the best food tours in Paris.

Dinner can be low-key after a full food day—if you have room left, grab picnic supplies or a rotisserie chicken and eat at your hotel or in a park.

Day 3: Foodie Finds

Marais Markets, Hidden Gems & a Flavorful Food Tour

  • Morning strolls through the Marais + Place des Vosges
  • Lunch at Marché des Enfants Rouges
  • Afternoon food tour in Marais or Montmartre
  • Easy picnic dinner or takeaway at your hotel

Day 4: Louvre (Yes, Briefly), Luxembourg Gardens & Latin Quarter Wanders

Nearest metro: Palais Royal (Louvre) → Odéon / Luxembourg
Museum strategy: Short, guided, highlights-only
Park break: Jardin du Luxembourg (boats + playground reset)
Afternoon vibe: Wandering, not rushing
Why this works: One final “wow” sight, then space to breathe before departure

It’s your last day, so let’s keep it flexible but fabulous. If you’re not all museum’d out, now is your chance to visit the world-famous Louvre. With kids or limited time, skip the full museum marathon and instead target a few highlights with a kid-friendly tour guide. Yes, this includes the Mona Lisa. It’s over-rated and way too crowded, but most can’t resist seeing it at least once. Just book a timed entry or a tour guide to avoid the chaos. I worried my kids would be bored at the Louvre, but I was shocked at how engaged our tour guide kept them. See them below posing like the sculptures!

From there, take a short walk to the Jardin du Luxembourg, one of Paris’s most magical parks. Kids can rent mini sailboats, climb, or even ride a pony, while adults can sip coffee under the trees and feel like they’re in a movie. Pack a picnic or grab lunch nearby (the food at Bread & Roses is excellent).

Spend the afternoon exploring the Latin Quarter. It’s perfect for meandering: narrow streets, old bookstores, and the impressive Panthéon if you’re in the mood for a historical stop.

For your final dinner, go for something memorable but not fussy. Try Le Comptoir du Relais if you can snag a reservation, or settle into a cozy terrace with steak-frites and a glass of red while reminiscing about your 4 day trip to Paris, France.

Optional Day Trips from Paris

Feeling ambitious? If you’re up for a day trip beyond the city, skip the other day 4 activities and visit Versailles or Disneyland Paris instead. Both are doable in a day and offer a totally different side of France—just be prepared for an early start and a more transit time.

👉Make it easy with this all-day tour that offers round trip transport from Paris: From Paris: Versailles Bike Tour w/ Palace, Gardens, & Picnic

Day 4: A Flexible Finale

Louvre Highlights, Luxembourg Gardens & Latin Quarter

  • Quick Louvre visit (skip-the-line, hit the big stuff)
  • Picnic or lunch near Jardin du Luxembourg
  • Stroll the Latin Quarter + optional visit to the Panthéon
  • Memorable final dinner (try Le Comptoir du Relais or cozy bistro)
  • Or throw caution to the wind and visit Versaille or Disnelyand Paris insead.

Tips for Spending 4 Days in Paris with Kids

  • Don’t overschedule—Paris is best enjoyed slowly.
  • Book skip-the-line tickets where possible.
  • Be realistic about museums. One per day is plenty.
  • Always pack snacks. Always.
  • Pick up a carnet of Metro tickets for easier transport.

FAQ: Planning the Perfect 4 Days in Paris

What should I do in Paris in 4 days?

With 4 days in Paris, you can cover a mix of iconic landmarks, food experiences, and kid-friendly fun. Climb the Eiffel Tower, stroll the Seine, explore Montmartre, and don’t miss a stop at the Louvre or Musée d’Orsay. Your days can balance sightseeing with café breaks, neighborhood wandering, and a boat cruise at sunset.

What should I visit in Paris in 4 days?

Some must-see places in Paris in 4 days include:
Eiffel Tower
Notre-Dame Cathedral
Louvre Museum or Musée d’Orsay
Sacré-Cœur and Montmartre
Luxembourg Gardens
Tuileries and Place de la Concorde
The Marais and Saint-Germain neighborhoods

Is 4 days in Paris enough?

Yes—4 days in Paris is enough to hit the highlights without rushing too much. You won’t see everything, but with smart planning, you’ll enjoy the must-see spots and still have time to soak in the magic of the city.

Can you really see Paris in 4 days?

You could, of course, spend months or even years in Paris and not see it all. I’ve been many times, and I am still always excited to go back. But you absolutely can see the highlights of Paris in 4 days. You’ll cover the big landmarks and still have time for croissants, neighborhood strolls, and relaxed meals. Use skip-the-line tickets, book centrally located hotels, and wear comfy shoes—those cobblestones are no joke!

What’s the best way to book 4 days in Paris?

Start by locking in flights and a centrally located hotel. Then book skip-the-line tickets or guided tours for popular spots like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, or Orsay. These can and do sell out in high season. Consider a Seine river cruise and a food tour or cooking class for immersive, memory-making experiences. What’s included in the 4-day CityPass for Paris?

If you’re trying to figure out how to do Paris in 4 days without wasting time in long ticket lines, the Go City Paris Pass is a great option. It includes access to top attractions like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and a Seine River cruise, plus skip-the-line entry at many locations.

The pass can help save both money and stress, especially if you’re planning to visit several must-see places in Paris in four days. 👉 Check pricing and included attractions on the Go City Paris Pass here.

How much is a 4-day Metro pass in Paris?

Getting around Paris in 4 days is easier than you might think. The Paris Métro is fast, reliable, and covers just about every neighborhood you’d want to visit. If you’re planning to take several rides per day, a multi-day pass like the Navigo Easy Pass or Paris Visite Pass can save money and time. (Just be sure to check which zones you need—most major sights are in Zones 1–3.)

Is a Paris Metro Pass worth it?

Yes, if you’re planning to use public transportation often. Passes like the Navigo Easy or Paris Visite card can save money and simplify travel, especially with kids.

How do you get around Paris in 4 days?

The Metro is the fastest and most budget-friendly way to get around Paris. It’s easy to navigate, runs frequently, and covers most of the city’s must-see neighborhoods. Walking is also part of the fun. Paris is best explored on foot.

What should I pack for Paris?

Paris’s weather can be unpredictable. Bring:
A stylish but comfortable pair of walking shoes
Layers (jacket, sweater, t-shirts)
One dressier outfit for dinners or nicer restaurants
A small umbrella or rain jacket
A crossbody bag (zippered) to keep your stuff safe
Pro tip: Leave the athletic apparel at home—it screams “I’m a tourist.”

Where to Stay for 4 Days in Paris

Stay in a central location to make the most of your time. Some of my favorite family-friendly neighborhoods:

  • Le Marais – Historic, walkable, with great food. This is my personal favorite choice!
  • Latin Quarter – Bustling, close to Notre-Dame
  • 7th Arrondissement – Near the Eiffel Tower
  • Saint-Germain-des-Prés – Classic charm + upscale cafés

Consider a family-sized apartment like Highstay luxury serviced apartments (near the Louvre) or check out boutique hotels like Hotel Recamier or Hôtel Dupond Smith.

Pro Tip: If it doesn’t say in the description, assume the hotel doesn’t have air condition. In the summer, this might translate into very hot rooms!

This 4-day Paris itinerary blends iconic sights, family-friendly fun, and foodie flair—because you deserve more than just checking boxes. Whether you’re visiting Paris with kids or planning a romantic escape, this itinerary delivers just the right mix of magic and real life.
